Well, yesterday was the big day, my 6 weeks post surgery follow up appointment. I was not looking forward to this for the very obvious reason that it involved a pelvic exam. Yuck! Kind of scared it would hurt since nothing had been used lately. Well it was fine and surprisingly no pain.
The doctor gave me the go ahead to work and exercise as much as I wanted. I was very happy about that and started immediately. I was running a few miles before the surgery but it had been so long and I am terribly out of shape. I started with a walk/run, the running part only lasting literally one minute. Ok its a start. And I was winded too. Todays goal is to run for a minute and a half. Small steps.
I am allowed to go back to work now too. I work in child care which is a very strenuous job, picking up children, bending, running, dancing and getting up and down from the floor. So glad I can go back though. I really missed the kids.
He also said that my belly button looked fine. No sign of infection anymore. Everything was healed up nicely.
So, good in that area. Thinking about doing breast surgery but not for a few years. I think I still have some time, but who knows. Both my mother and grandmother got breast cancer in their 60s. I feel like it could be the same for me. So good for now but something to think about.

Skin infection
Well everything has been going super smoothly until yesterday. Really just a minor set back. Part of the lapro-scopic surgery involved going through my belly button. The visiting nurses had checked every time and it was good. Last week the surgical tape finally feel off. Then a few days ago it started getting really really itchy.
Yesterday before I got in the shower I looked at it in the mirror. It was all red and looked like there was some yellow liquid leaking. Panic. Ran down to med express, since it was a Sunday. Doctor said it was a skin infection. She gave me an anti fungal cream to put on twice a day. And some oral antibiotics. Oh well, not too bad.

Walking
Have been trying to get in at least one hour of walking per day. Yesterday I only made it to 45 minutes. I pooped out in the evening. Still not 100% with the energy. Will try to hit that one hour mark today! This is the only exercise that I'm allowed to do until I hit the six week mark.

3 weeks post surgery
Well here I am at the three week mark. I feel absolutely normal. Just like before my surgery. I am even actively seeking a new job. Have lots of energy. Have been walking a lot. Trying to get in a total of one hour of walking per day. This is broken down into smaller times, such as 5, 10, 15 minutes at a a time.
Still not allowed to do any other exercises until the 6 week mark, at least. I will see the doctor then and hopefully get cleared to do what I want. Really missing my other exercises, like running and weight lifting.

Post Surgery, 20 Days
Feeling quite a bit better. Trying to get at least an hour walking time in per day. I split it over the day doing 15, 20 or 30 minute sessions, either outside or inside on the treadmill. It depends on the weather.
All of the bloating is gone. Lost a total of 3 pounds. There was a lot of water stored in my stomach. It seems to be back to normal now.
Had my last visit from the visiting nurses today. She checked my stitches and said they looked fine. There was a protective tape over the stitches. One of these fell off. The others to follow soon. I had laparoscopic surgery, so the healing is minimal.
Still get pretty tired in the afternoon. May take a while before I feel my normal energy again. I was slightly anemic after the surgery. They said it can take a few weeks for the blood to get back up to normal levels. I did have enough energy to clean the kitchen pretty well as well as make dinner.
Happy to be back on my supplements. Because I was on blood thinners, I had to stop taking my supplements, such as fish oil and green juices. I also take bee pollen, flax seed oil, coenzyme Q10, probiotics, as well as a brain boosting formula to help with my Parkinson's.
